Is the ship data really live?
Positions come live from licensed AIS sources. Coastal receivers feed the map, and where the shore cannot hear, satellites fill in; search, ship pages and your fleet reach offshore the same way. Fathom can also run a deeper satellite scan on request, priced per ship and quoted before you agree. Coverage varies by sea area and signals can be delayed, so Shipdeck is for information, never navigation.
Do I need an account?
No. Browse the map, search ships and read ship pages signed out. Signing in adds syncing, Fathom and tokens, and a new account starts with 50 welcome tokens. Sign in with Apple on iPhone and iPad, Sign in with Google on Android.
What is Fathom?
Fathom is Shipdeck's AI first mate. Ask in plain words where a ship is, what is heading into a port, or how far she has sailed. Fathom reads the live picture and answers straight, and every ship in an answer is a tap away from her page. Fathom sails with every plan and runs on tokens; Captain simply carries the most each month. Fathom can make mistakes; check anything important.
What are tokens?
A simple meter for Fathom and pay as you go live data. An ask costs 2 tokens, a fresh position 1 more, a deep search 2, a web lookup 1 and a 7 day track 6, always shown before you spend. Captain includes 500 a month, Pro 100, and a new account starts with 50. Packs top you up from £3.99.
What do Pro and Captain include?
Pro removes every advert and unlocks the full live map, 30 day tracks, a fleet of 50, widgets, voyage countdowns and tides. Captain adds Fathom with 500 tokens a month.
Are there adverts?
The free tiers show adverts and Pro and Captain show none. Where you allow it the adverts are matched to your interests, and you can change that permission whenever you like; where you do not, they are chosen at random and the app works exactly the same. We do not sell your data and nothing goes to data brokers. Signed out you can also choose to watch a short video to open one ship's page for a day, which is always optional.
Can I cancel any time?
Yes, in your App Store subscription settings, at least 24 hours before the period renews. A 7 day free trial works the same way: cancel at least 24 hours before it ends and you are not charged. Refunds are handled by Apple.
Which devices does Shipdeck support?
iPhone and iPad running iOS 18 or later, and Android phones and tablets running Android 8.0 or later. Home screen widgets on both, and a voyage counting down on your lock screen.
Can I use Shipdeck for navigation?
No. AIS data can be delayed or incomplete and tide predictions are computational estimates. Always use official charts, official tide tables and proper equipment. See the Terms of Use.
